Frequently Asked Questions |
|
|

1) I have never danced before and may feel very inadequate. Relax, you are going to be in for a big surprise. The way our classes are structured, new people always blend in quickly and you will be surprised at how rapidly you will catch on. Our classes are not just about learning to dance, they are also entertaining and social.
2) Do the classes work on a block basis with a set number of weeks? No, you can start in any class on any given day or week. Danceroc classes work on a drop in basis so that it does not matter whether you are an occasional dancer or would like to do more than one class per week. And best of all, you pay as you go.

3) What do I wear? You can wear what ever suits you. Typically people wear casual clothing to the weekly classes and smart trendy attire to the many social dance events, cabarets and parties. Footwear should provide comfort and support and not be too slippery or sticky to a wooden floor.
4) How do the classes operate?
The first hour is devoted to a standard "drop in" class with warm up and three basic moves. We then freestyle for 20 minutes (ie just relax and dance socially with each other) and then return for a five minute consolidation class to reinforce the moves learned. This is followed by the intermediate level class where dancers with seven weeks or more experience are shown lots of cool moves often involving "dips and drops" and "close and personal" maneuvers.
5) What age group are the classes? If age is important, then there is something for everyone. Typically, the Tuesday club jive night is a predominantly younger class with about two thirds of the members in the 18 - 25 year old bracket and the rest all ages. The remaining classes tend to be the reverse with about a quarter in the 18 - 25 age group.
6) Do I need a partner? No, partner supplied and even if you do bring a partner, everyone is frequently rotated around the class unless they expressly wish to stay together.
